Hello. My name is Brad Carr, and I am a photographic artist, Nature writer and mentor/ creative coach based between Llangollen and Ruthin in north Wales.

Much of my photography is focused on the hills and valleys of what was once my hometown of Welshpool, Powys and the magical, mystical, ancient landscape of Eryri (Snowdonia).

I create photographs that are contemplative and reflective, offering the viewer an insight into my soul. I see Nature as a mirror of myself, and every step placed on the footpaths of the outer world is a step along the path of my own inner landscape.

There has always been this little dream inside of me to inspire others with my life. I share my photographs and writing in the hope of doing just that, and passing on the wisdom that I accrue through my own personal experience and interactions with Mother Nature. There is a huge purpose behind my art, and I am on a mission to leave my mark on the world with the work that I am doing. If you wish to learn more about my mission, then please go and read my Artist’s Statement.

For the past half a decade, I have been feeling the call to teach in various forms. I offer a range of learning experiences that include group landscape photography workshops throughout various locations in Wales, private one to one photography tuition, and photo editing workshops online. In 2025, I will be hosting my first residential group workshop and creative retreat titled, ‘A Bridge Between Two Worlds’.

‘A Bridge Between Two Worlds’

‘‘The camera is the bridge that connects these two worlds. Not only does it capture what it sees in the external world that is so familiar to us all, but it reflects, at the same time, the inner world of the artist; one that is completely unique and so often unknown and unseen, even by the artists’ eyes at times.’’

Utilising Photography As a tool for personal and spiritual development

Brad is deeply passionate about helping people to reach their full potential and become the best versions of themselves that they can be and he does this through his photography tuition and private creative mentoring.

Prior to his pursuit of a career in creativity, Brad worked as a personal trainer and football coach. He loves to help people develop confidence in themselves and grow beyond their limits in pursuit of their highest Self.

Brad treats every client on an individual level, listening deeply and intently to each person’s needs before deciding how best to proceed. To help a person progress, Brad’s ethos is to get to the core of the problem that they are facing, whether that is personally, spiritually or professionally. Curiosity is the key to his coaching and mentoring approach.

He encourages everyone to come with an open mind, ready to embrace new concepts and ideas in pursuit of growth through his coaching and mentoring. His ethos is to encourage people to enjoy the process of the creative journey, and not to become too fixated on the results and rewards. Brad encourages creativity as a tool for personal and spiritual development and strives to help people to build self-belief and confidence to become the best human being possible in this lifetime.

What Clients Say:

  • Ian P ★★★★★

“Brad’s style of teaching is that of a coach that wants to help you get the best out of your own vision and art. This is not about telling you what to do, it is about asking you to think about why you are taking that particular picture and how you might improve it. This is for those who really want to take their photography to a new level of meaning and thinking. I made me realise that the most important part of the experience is to be out in nature and to try and use my photography to share the benefits of how this makes me feel.”

  • Lucy R ★★★★★

“Brad is as wonderful of a teacher as he is a photographer. I have had both a 1-1 lesson as well as a workshop with Brad where I experienced consistent attention, personalised feedback and a friendly atmosphere. Brad’s philosophy and dedication to photography is admirable, and I couldn’t recommend him enough if you’re thinking of developing your landscape photography.”

  • Angelika S ★★★★★

“I recently had the opportunity to spend a day with Brad for a one-to-one day at Lake Vyrnwy, and it was an incredibly productive experience. Brad had done his homework and put a lot of effort into creating a custom plan that perfectly matched my shooting style and workflow.
What impressed me most was his decision to leave his own camera behind, which allowed him to focus entirely on my work. This is something I hadn’t seen before, and it made a significant difference. He constantly encouraged me to think about what I was doing, how and why, pushing me to explore different perspectives and techniques.
The day was well-structured yet flexible, and I appreciated the emphasis on practical learning. It was a valuable session that has left a lasting impact on my photography.’’

  • Kieran M ★★★★★

“Coming on this workshop really made me see how people like Brad, with such a passion and skill in photography truly enjoy sharing their knowledge, skills and techniques. No question was ever too much and Brad was always happy to go as much into depth as needed to help understand what I had asked. A superb morning full of discussion, skill sharing and in a beautiful location!”

  • Alexander S ★★★★★

I had a fantastic zoom call with Brad to review some of my photography portfolio that I had sent over. I did not realise how much I needed this appointment/chat with Brad. What a great insight and appreciation that photography has to us as humans beings, on an artistic and metal welfare level. The insight, feeling and emotions that an image can give will sometimes get missed by the viewer, but not Brad we went into depth on images to find the meaning behind the image and the reason it was taken, this pulled at my creative mind and also made me realise that photography is just not a creative outlet for me, it is also a metal escapism. This review has highlighted my passion and reason on why I try to take photos for an emotion/metal welfare reasons.

    Just great Photography Therapy.

  • Paul A ★★★★★

First met Brad at the Land and Light Exhibition in London a few weeks ago, then joined his closed Facebook page. Brad has a calming nature about him and is really easy to talk with. Via the Facebook page he was offering a free image review session, so I signed up as I'm always happy to talk photography! Not only did we discuss the images that I had sent to him, we also discussed my journey into photography, and how it helps me in everyday life. You can listen on his YouTube channel.
Brad is an extremely good listener and offers some really useful advice. I would highly recommend ! Thanks again Brad.

‘‘Photography holds such great power as a form of art and creative practice. It can be transformational for the human spirit; the camera, a tool for personal and spiritual development that can lead a person towards a place of deep healing and greater self-awareness.

Photography, for me, has been as much an alternative form of therapy as anything else. I walk now, a much changed version of myself in comparison to the version of me that existed before I reconnected with my soul through the art of Nature photography.’’
